A - Dr. Memory™ uses an Ape in the exact same shape of a capital letter "A" to picture a letter "A." All of his alphabet letter pictures not only look exactly like the letter, but they also sound exactly like the letter as it is said when saying the alphabet.

The letter "A" in the English language makes four sounds, long "a" as in the word ape, short "a" as in the word apple, the sound of "uh" as in the word aquarium and the sound "ah" as in the word Amish. The Letter "A" is the second most unreliable letter in the English alphabet. It can and does make four sounds. The Spanish alphabet has far fewer sounds than the English alphabet. The letter "A" in Spanish only makes one sound, and it is the sound of Ah as in Amish. It is the sound a doctor asks you to say when he places a tongue depressor in your mouth. It is reliable. The picture of the ape on the left below will teach you that Spanish sound. As you can see the Ape looks exactly like a letter A. You will also notice that the Ape has a tongue depressor in its mouth as if saying Ah. A tongue depressor is Dr. Memory's™ way of picturing the Ah sound.
